New Clients

No matter which modality of service you choose, following are some tips to help you prepare for your appointment:

  • If it is your first visit, you may want to print and fill out "New Client Forms" prior to your appointment by using the link on this page. Filling them out in advance is helpful as the forms are long and can take some time to complete. The reason that we ask so many questions is so that we can get a full picture as to what is happening with respect to your health. The more we know, the better we can help you. If you are not able to fill out the forms in advance of your appointment, that's ok too, just try to arrive early to allow enough time to do them before the start of your appointment.
  • For all modalities of treatment it is recommended that you wear loose, comfortable clothing, including pants that can be pushed up over your knees and shirts that can push up comfortably above the elbows if possible.
  • It is recommended that you have something to eat about an hour or so before your appointment as having an empty stomach or going too long without food can cause some people to feel light headed or even nauseous during a session.
  • Try to avoid strenuous activity or stressful situations for the remainder of the day after a session as this will help one’s body to better process the energy of the session.
  • Asian Body Work and Reiki are typically performed with the client fully clothed, lying on a massage table or seated in a chair. However, there are some instances where you may be asked to put on a gown, for example if cupping or guasha are done or if the clothing is too difficult to work over.
  • You may wish to refrain from wearing jewelry as most jewelry will need to be removed before treatment.
  • For bodywork sessions involving the face or head, you may wish to minimize the amount of makeup or hair products that you use on the day of treatment or apply them after treatment as manual work has a tendency to smudge makeup and/or toussle the hair.
  • Since the techniques used at Single Point Acupuncture seek to rebalance body, mind and spirit, one may be asked a variety of questions during the intake about one’s overall life and physical state. Physical tests may also need to be performed. These things help us to better understand you and help us to better treat you. First time sessions usually entail more time spent on these things than subsequent sessions as client and practitioner are just becoming familiar with one another.
  • If the need to reschedule or cancel should arise, please call us at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment to avoid cancellation or rescheduling fees.
  • We look forward to working with you!
